Frequently asked questions

How codefunc works, what we collect, and what stays on your device.

100% client-side — input never leaves your browser

General

What is codefunc?

codefunc is a free collection of 97 browser-based developer utilities for formatting, encoding, parsing, converting, and generating code and data. Every tool runs locally in your browser — no signup, no uploads, no server-side processing of your input.

Is codefunc free?

Yes. All tools are completely free to use. There is no paid tier, no trial period, and no account required.

Do I need to create an account?

No. You can use every tool immediately without registering or signing in.

How is codefunc different from other online tool sites?

Your input stays on your device. We focus on fast static pages, clear tool pages, and in-depth blog guides — without accounts or paywalls.

Privacy & data

Where does my data go when I use a tool?

Nowhere off your device. All processing happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. We do not receive, store, or transmit the text, JSON, tokens, or files you paste into any tool.

Do you log or store what I paste into tools?

No. Tool input and output are not sent to our servers. We never persist your data in a database or log file tied to your session.

What data do you collect when I visit the site?

We may collect standard analytics data such as pages visited, browser type, and referring URL through Google Analytics (when enabled). This does not include tool input or output. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Will codefunc show ads?

Yes. We may show Google AdSense (including Auto ads) to support hosting costs. Ad providers may use cookies under their own policies. Manual ad placeholder slots in the UI stay off unless explicitly enabled; Auto ads are controlled in the AdSense account. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Can I use codefunc offline?

Once a page is loaded, most tools continue to work without an internet connection because processing is entirely client-side. You will need connectivity for the initial page load.

Tools & accuracy

Which browsers are supported?

All modern browsers with JavaScript enabled — including recent versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. Some tools use the Web Crypto API, which requires a secure context (HTTPS or localhost).

How accurate are the tools?

Tools are provided "as is" without warranty. They are intended for development, debugging, and learning. Always verify critical output — especially for security, compliance, or production deployments — before relying on it.

Is it safe to paste production secrets into codefunc?

We recommend treating browser-based tools as convenience utilities, not secure vaults. Although data is not uploaded to our servers, secrets in the browser can be exposed through extensions, screen sharing, or compromised devices. Use test credentials when possible and rotate secrets if exposed.

Does the JWT Decoder verify signatures?

No. The JWT Decoder only decodes the header and payload. Signature verification requires your secret key and should be done in your application backend. Use the JWT Generator for creating test tokens with HMAC algorithms.

Where can I find guides for specific topics?

The blog publishes in-depth guides on JSON, JWT, SEO, accessibility, CSS, and release notes. Each tool page also includes tool-specific FAQs and links to related utilities.
